I want to wish a happy New Year to all of you!
Another year has passed, another great is ahead of us.
Looking back, it seems that the year has passed by way too quickly and yet there are so many moments that I was able to enjoy, which I can be only grateful for. Just to mention a few: being a part of the Berlin Fashion Week in January, attending the Vogue Festival in London, visiting the Villa Schiffanoia in Cote D’Azur in April, spending my summer holidays on Mykonos Island and having an amazing photo shoot in the old town of Dubrovnik in October were just some of the highlights in 2014.
Traveling has always and will always fulfill and inspire me.
But most importantly, I am grateful for the unique moments that I have spent with my beloved ones, without who my life would not meaning a thing.
My family is my greatest blessing, my biggest support. Even though we are far from being perfect and do not agree in absolutely all aspects of life, at the end of the day I am really lucky to have them. During my childhood my family has offered a warm and safe haven to live in. It was our home. They taught me how important values and traditions are and introduced me to the best food a girl could ask for!
Sometimes we take things for granted, but there are people who do not have a family, no home and no food.
Expressing gratitude and appreciating life should become a treasured habit for each and every one of us.
While I am writing this article for you I am listening to a wonderful song by the Cinematic Orchestra called „Arrival of the Birds & Transformation“. Whenever I listen to it I am reminded of new beginnings, new chapters in life, a transformation. The song simply inspires me.
I personally think that being a human being means evolving continuously and always trying to go a step further. The person you were yesterday no longer exists… but all the experiences you make throughout your entire life, no matter how great they are or hard they seem, remain your life lessons that will help you grow. Most important is to keep on walking! You have to overcome the obstacles of life (we all have them) and continue forward with a positive attitude. All these experiences will make you stronger. Don’t let negative people ruin your day, surround yourself with positive and ambitious people, they are the one who will push you to take the next step!
I have a perfectly chosen quote by Paulo Coelho: “In the cycle of nature there is no such thing as victory or defeat; there is only movement.” It can be found in the book “Manuscript found in Accra“.
Des & Jen has definitely evolved! For a couple of months we have been working with a great, inspirational and young-minded team of photographers and stylists that have been helping us in looking at our blog from a different perspective and achieve certain goals.
Hence, when I look at our blog posts now I can see a big difference and development since our first posts. They have now reached top-quality standards and yet I am sure there is still a lot of space to unfold in many aspects and directions!
Believe me when I say it’s a lot of work! Work that motivates me every single day.
We have recently started to create short videos, as we think that they are lively and fun and will connect us more with our followers.
With the New Year we will also launch a new design of the webpage, a layout that is contemporary and fashionable, still it will remain easy to browse through, which was very important to me.
I personally find simplicity more expressive.
There are still many great ideas that we have on our mind and that will hopefully be revealed very soon on Des & Jen!
May this new year be prosperous, filled with happiness, love, health, peace and bring only good things to all of you!
