For the Diesel Black Gold Resort 2017 collection, that we shot at the rooftop terrace of the 57 Restaurant & Lounge at the Meliá Vienna, Andreas Melbostad the creative director of the brand, was inspired by the Nineties (currently a huge trend in fashion!) and used mainly darker tones.
Diesel Black Gold – reconstruction of iconic pieces
He re-constructed and re-fabricated some of the iconic pieces, such as the leather jacket (that looks like a cut away jacket), which I combined with a shirt-dress. Even though the Norwegian designer has kept Diesel’s streetwear roots (masculine aesthetics), he gave the whole collection a modern and fresh touch. I really like the long sleeves of the jacket; as Des and myself often struggle with short length sleeves some of the clothes have (tall girl problems 🙂 ). Melbostad also focused on assymetric cuts and functionality (such as zippers), which you can see on Des’ dress.
