Lifeball 2017 with MAC COSMETICS

After a one year break, the Life Ball, one of the world’s biggest AIDS charity events returned with a whole new look to Vienna last Saturday. Together with MAC Cosmetics we attended this spectaular event for the very first time, which was established by Gary Keszler and Torbom Petrosian in 1993. “Recognize the Danger“ and “Know your status“ are the key messages, which want to communicate the awareness of peoples’ immune status and blood groups.

Great Gatsby & Burlesque

Of course, what would the life ball be without the glitz, glamour and crazy costumes? This year’s theme was all about the 1920’s and 1930’s, inspired by Great Gatsby and Burlesque. I decided to go for a corsage and a tulle skirt, which was modest compared to other outfits. ☺
I was really amazed by the creativity of certain peoples’s costumes. Many of them have been creating them for months on their own, which I found very inspiring. Ranging from feathers, pearls, body paintings, …etc.

MAC Cosmetics

This year MAC Cosmetics (MAC Aids Fund) made a donation of € 150 000 to Life+ (new umbrella brand that focuses on different kind of aspects of HIV and AIDS in a more sustainable way) to support a project by Sentebale (supports orphans and vulnerable children, many of whom are affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic).
Furthermore MAC Cosmetics had more than 30 Make-up Artists who were in charge of the make-up for the opening show.
We had the honor of being backstage and meeting several celebrities
as well as Regan Rabanal, Senior Artist of MAC Cosmetics who was also the Key Make-up Artist for this year’s Life ball.
The raised money was made through the sale of the VIVA GLAM series in Austria and Switzerland throughout the whole year.

Among the special guests were one of the world’s most outrageous drag queens, supermodel Naomie Campbell, Amanda Lepore, Dean and Dan from Dsquared2, Ms. Warwick (Whitney Houston’s cousin), British singers Joss Stone and Skin and Francesco Sconamiglio who hosted a fashion show showcasing a selection of his Haute Couture gowns.

Thank you MAC Cosmetics for this wonderful experience! 🙂 #MACfamily <3
